Keith Thompson

Keith has over 45 years of planning and design experience at airports around the world. His experience in aviation infrastructure development includes project and program leadership with an emphasis on terminal design and planning. Over the course of his career, Keith has led a substantial number of engagements in both greenfield and renovation/expansion projects from as large as 4,200,000 square feet (ICN) to as small as 12,00 SF (CLD).

In the last several years he has provided project leadership on over $7 billion in major airport renovation and expansion projects including the recently opened $3 billion New Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport, the $1.4 billion Midfield Satellite Concourse at LAX, and the $3 billion Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea.

As a principal on these major projects, Keith was personally responsible for client relationships in addition to the budgeting, contracting and management of teams consisting of as many as twenty subconsultants, while simultaneously maintaining profitability and quality of service.

As a firmwide Aviation practice leader, Keith oversaw a 15% annual growth in Gensler’s aviation sector revenues from $11 million in 2008 to over $100 million in 2024. This involved coordinating the aviation business development activities across the firm and actively engaging with industry organizations while concurrently managing a studio with over 40 direct reports.
